|Designer for Top Rio Samba Queen
Doris is Tapped by Mocidade Queen to Design 2009 Outfit
The queen of the Percussion (Rainha da Bateria) of Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel, one of the top samba schools in Rio de Janeiro has chosen Los Angeles Designer Doris de Hilster to help design her 2009 Carnaval costume.
Doris in turn has invited Thatiana to join Alex de Oliveira to join them for the 12th Annual Brazilian Street Carnaval in Long Beach, Doris' home town where they put on a very authentic Brazilian Rio-Style samba parade each year.
This year's theme is "Children - The Future of All Nations". More info on the carnaval can be found at www.carnaval.org
Doris with Samba Kings and Queens!
Thatiana Pagung, the current Rainha da Bateria of Mocidade, is working with Doris to make a stunning costume that Thatiana will use in the Sambadrome to parade in 2009's Rio de Janeiro Carnaval competition.
Thatiana and Doris met via their mutual friend, King of Rio's Carnaval, Alex de Oliveira who contacted Doris about his "sister's" arrival in Los Angeles in August of 2008.
Athough they are not truly brother and sister, they feel that they are in spirit and now they are both good friends with Doris.
Doris seems to be attracted to Royalty being close friends with both of Rio's top King and Queens of samba.
Doris and Thatiana Around Town
Doris along with SambaLa Madrinha of the Bateria Valeria Ruggieri showed Thataina around town including Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, the California beaches, and Hollywood.
Left, Thatiana and Doris pose with Shrek at Universal Studios where they both took some well-needed time off from their busy schedules to enjoy some of the attractions in Los Angeles and Hollywood.
